If you see Affinity Home Care Agency’s very own Chris Zayid during the month of October, he is probably wearing pink! Chris has accepted the challenge from the American Cancer Society of Oakland County Michigan to become a Real Man. The Real Men Wear Pink campaign gives men an opportunity to help fight breast cancer. Community leaders from all over the United States use this platform to raise awareness and much needed funds to help the American Cancer Society to fight breast cancer.
The Real Men Wear Pink campaign has raised in excess of $6.5 million to save lives from breast cancer. This money is used to fund research, provide community services and educate people about screenings and how to reduce the risks of breast cancer. Some of the much needed services that are provided by the American Cancer Society are free rides to treatment, one on one support from fellow survivors, patient navigation from diagnosis through treatment and beyond and even free lodging. Ultimately all this translates to a 26% decrease in cancer deaths since 1991!
As one of the local leaders chosen to help fight breast cancer, Chris has agreed to wear pink to help raise awareness and funding for American Cancer Soiety’s breast cancer battle. You have probably seen some of his posts online if you follow his social media accounts! Currently he is running a fundraiser for a pie in the face! There are all levels of sponsorship with this fun event! Check it out here: Real Men Wear Pink of Oakland County Michigan. If you want to support this campaign there is a button on the website. No amount is too small, and good wishes are always appreciated!
We are very proud of Chris being nominated as a local leader in this role. We can’t wait to see how this month progresses and maybe even see Chris get a pie in the face; all in the name of supporting the fight against breast cancer! Don’t forget to wear your pink this month!
