Each month we introduce you to one of our special employees so you can learn more about them. We really have incredible people ready to serve you. This month after several weeks of a stay at home order to protect ourselves and others from the COVID-19 pandemic we have been so impressed with every single one of our caregivers, nurses, therapists, and everyone working together to make sure Affinity continues to provide the best home care possible. Now more than ever, home care is not just making people more comfortable, it is making people safer living at home. Choosing an employee of the month has not been an easy task during this pandemic. Everyone is incredibly deserving. For April we selected Autumn Bayne to highlight as our Affinity Employee of the Month.
Autumn is the Affinity medical social worker and patient care coordinator. She has been part of the Affinity family for 3 1/2 years. Autumn is married with 3 children ages 20, 17 and 15 and a wonderful lab, Logan. Autumn thrives in nature and loves travel. She is an avid hiker and family trips typically revolve around national parks, hiking, and mountains. Autumn loves cooking and baking. Autumn’s family are huge Marvel fans. It’s no surprise that Autumn’s favorite character has always been Wonder Woman. That seems incredibly fitting!
A day in the life of Autumn as our medical social worker is busy. Prior to the restrictions surrounding COVID-19, Autumn would visit local hospitals, doctor offices, and rehabilitation facilities to check in on patients. While that travel is on hold now, she continues to communicate with case managers, social workers, patients, and their families regarding our home care services. She visits clients in their homes wearing a mask, gloves, and keeping a good 6’ distance while having important discussions with her clients. Autumn assesses clients’ immediate and long-term needs on a wide variety of levels and the assistance needed. This can also include mental health and financial counseling to the patient and their family. She helps our patients by checking how they and/or their families are coping with the health/disease process, along with how the home environment and social aspects are contributing to their quality of life. Autumn is able to obtain helpful information regarding patient care and makes many recommendations on how we can improve their quality of life at home. Autumn calls every patient often to check in on how they are doing, how they feel they are progressing with our services, and their satisfaction with our home care. Autumn keeps physicians informed on their patients’ care with written reports. Autumn actively assesses and helps her patients in this adjusted COVID-19 format. She looks forward to when she can return to hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and doctor offices to meet patients in these larger settings. Until then, she makes sure nothing is missed by consistent phone calls, safe home visits, and coordination of care.
Autumn, you are our Wonder Woman! Your innovation of how to continue to care for and serve our patients and their families is inspiring. You are our Affinity Employee of the Month!
